Commonly called maire and metuapua in Tahiti, these native ferns were widely used in traditional medicine. They were used in the preparation of many more or less complex remedies throughout the Polynesian islands. Among these species that inhabit our valley, Microsorum maximum is rarer and endemic to the Society.
